About Us
Arcadia Location History
In 1936 Willie Robarts purchased Blake-Lanier Funeral home and renamed it Robarts Funeral Home, which would later be bought in 1939 by his brother Howard Robarts. Most important to us, however, is when a 13-year-old boy named Fred J. Grady started working for the Robarts family in 1936. That young man would come to be locally known as Mr. Fred, and in 1963, would buy Robarts Funeral Home with his wife, Betty Jean. The funeral home became Robarts-Grady Funeral Home, and would remain so until 1992.
After the completion of Ponger-Kays Funeral Home at 50 N Hillsborough Avenue, Robarts-Grady Funeral Home and Ponger-Kays merged to become Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
Wauchula Location History
In 2011, Ed Ponger and his daughter, Allyson Ponger Christ, owners of Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Home of Arcadia, purchased the building and opened the Wauchula location of Ponger-Kays-Grady. To provide better service to the families of Hardee County, renovation and expansion of Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Home began in 2017.
