Technical Sergeant Robert Clemons, 91, of Arcadia, FL passed away in his home on May 3, 2020.
Robert was born to Clarence Forest Clemons and Myrtle Genevieve Shell on January 1, 1929 in Bonnyman, Kentucky. He grew up in a large family and spent his childhood in Kentucky and West Virginia before moving to Nevada upon entering the Air Force. It was here that he met his lifelong partner June and they married on June 29, 1953. They lived in Arcadia, FL and raised 5 children together.
Sergeant Clemons served his country as an Aircraft Maintenance Technician for the United States Airforce for 20 years. Robert served in World War II, The Korean War, and the Vietnam War. He traveled the world working on airplanes and his family has fond memories of him telling stories of his adventures abroad. He retired from MacDill Airforce Base in 1965 and spent his civilian career in the Real Estate industry.
Robert loved spending time with his family and being on the water. He enjoyed fishing the Peace River and would often spend weekends hunting the prize snook. He treasured his time with grandchildren and great grandchildren and especially loved getting together to celebrate family birthdays with a fish fry and ice cream cake.
Robert is preceded in death by 3 children – Robert Henry (Gerrie) Clemons, Donna Jo (Barry) Brown, and Linda Mae Clemons and 5 brothers and 4 sisters.
Robert is survived by 2 children – Lois Clemons (Bobby) Heine, James Forest (Debbie) Clemons; 9 grandchildren – Robert Clemons, Richard (Erica) Clemons, Ryan Clemons, Angela Brown, Vickie (Anthony) Penley, Shannan (Mike) Kennedy, Kimberly (Will) Tyson, Amy Heine, and Andy Heine. He also leaves behind 3 sisters – Mary Lou McClelland, Pam (Johnny) McEwen, and Nellie Clemons and 10 great grandchildren.
A burial ceremony will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Children's Ministry at The First Church of the Nazarene, Arcadia, FL.
