Eunice Davis Mizell passed away peacefully at her home in Fort Winder, Florida on March 7, 2020 at the age of 79 years.
Eunice was born on May 22, 1940 in Lake Wales, Florida. She moved to DeSoto County with her parents as a small child and grew up in the Brownville community. After graduating from DeSoto High School, she met and married her loving husband of 60 years, David Mizell. Together they raised two children and spent later years dedicated to their four grandchildren.
Eunice worked as a Teacher's Aide at Nocatee Elementary where she spent her days helping young children learn to read. She enjoyed working with children and worked at the school until she retired to be with her grandchildren. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, and doting Meme who loved her grandchildren more than anything. Eunice loved to collect antiques and travel with her family. She especially loved traveling to the mountains and spending summers at the beach with her loved ones.
She was preceded in death by her parents Horace Clayton (Jack) Davis and Mary Ethel Murphy Davis, along with her brother Clayton Eugene Davis.
Eunice will be missed dearly by her family and friends. She leaves behind her husband David Mizell; her children Lorri Christ and Mark (Cynthia) Mizell of Arcadia Florida; and her grandchildren Erin (Joel) Polk of Arcadia, FL, Adam Christ of Gainesville, FL, Jack Morgan Mizell of Tucson, Arizona, and Riley Mizell of Arcadia, Florida as well as one great grandchild, Alexis Polk.
Visitation will take place from 5:00 – 7:00PM on Tuesday March 10, 2020 at Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Home in Arcadia, Florida. A graveside memorial service will be held at 10:00AM on Wednesday March 11, 2020 at the Pinelevel Campground Cemetery with Pastor Jerry Waters officiating.
