Wilma Luke Skates, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away at the age of 65 on Friday, September 30th, 2022. Born in West Palm Beach to Arlie Luke and Helen King Luke, she lived in Fort Myers, FL with her husband Curtis J (Jim) Skates for the last 47 years.

Wilma attended church at Crossroads Baptist Church faithfully. Her world revolved around her family and Jesus, and that is where she invested her time. She studied scripture and read her Bible daily. Wilma spent most of her life caring for others and achieved her goal of becoming a CNA later in life. She worked for many years caring for the mentally handicapped, a job she took much pride in.

Wilma was preceded to Heaven by her sisters Janet Luke, Kathy Luke Deese, and Donnie Luke Murray, as well as her parents, Arlie Luke and Helen (King) Luke. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Curtis J (Jim) Skates, her daughters Jamie Skates Fender (Jason Fender) of Ray City, GA, Rebecca Skates Torrone (Tom Torrone) of Fort Myers, FL and Cyndi Skates Widener (David Eric Widener) of Fort Myers, FL. Grandchildren Cody Fender, Kendal Fender, Kelsey Skates, Hailey Torrone, Renee Torrone, David (Ryan) Widener, Rachel Widener Winters, Lindsay Widener, and Great-grandson Taos Winters, as well as sisters Eunice Luke Lewis, Thelma Luke Murray, Sandra Luke O'Brian, Sharon Luke Alexander, Arneise Luke Sellers, and brother William (Doug) Luke.

A visitation of family and friends will be held on Thursday, October 13, 2022, from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the chapel of Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Home, 50 N. Hillsborough Ave., Arcadia, Florida 34266.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 14, 2022, at 11:00 am at Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Home Chapel in Arcadia. Burial will follow at Joshua Creek Cemetery, Arcadia.
