Wilma G. "Midge" Van Ness, age 92 passed away peacefully on August 7, 2023, in Sarasota, FL. She was born on September 9, 1930, in Myakka Head, FL to the late Richard Hadaway and Gladys Hadaway Cunningham. Midge lived in her younger years in Reading, PA, Camp Springs, MD, Montgomery, AL, but returned to Florida and remained a resident of Arcadia for the past 50 years. Midge was of the Methodist faith and a member of Venus United Methodist Church, Venus, FL.

Midge was a hard-working lady, she retired from Barrera Harvesting as their bookkeeper and she also owned and operated a mobile home park. Midge enjoyed reading and watching NFL games, as she was an avid Washington Redskins fan. She loved her yard and planting all types of plants and trees around her home. Midge was a great cook, especially enjoyed preparing holiday meals for her family. She was a good listener and just a thoughtful person to all, she will be greatly missed.

She had three children, Marsha (Mike) Parker of Mechanicsville, MD, Richard (Jeanette) Witmer, and Michael Witmer all of Arcadia, five grandchildren Denise Parker (Kevin) Berry, Patricia Parker (Jon) Williams, Crissy Parker (Martin) Barisich, Jessica (Doug) Burt, and Ryan Witmer, four great-grandchildren Connor Parker, Parker Berry, Jaxon Burt and Ainsley Burt, four nieces and nephews.

Midge was preceded in death by her parents, husband T.W. Van Ness, son Michael Witmer and brother Oliver Hadaway.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at 10:00am at the chapel of Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Homes, 50 N. Hillsborough Ave., Arcadia. Entombment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Gardens, Port Charlotte, FL
