William Herbert Carter, affectionately known as Herbert to his family and friends, passed away Friday evening, December 10, 2010 in Arcadia, FL. Herbert was born March 1, 1952 in Hinesville, GA, moving to Arcadia in 1960. Herbert was a plumber by trade and of the protestant faith. He loved to golf with his family and buddies. Herbert was a hard working man and very conscientious about doing his work to the best of his ability. He enjoyed spending quality time with his children and grandchildren. Herbert is survived by his beloved wife Ann Carter, Arcadia, FL, four children; daughters Melissa Carter, Arcadia, FL, Michelle Carter (fianc e Walter Gilchrist) , St. Petersburg, FL, Melissa (fianc e Jerry Fuller) Kent, Harker Heights, TX, a son Tre (Samantha) Kent, Arcadia, FL, three brothers; Doug (Peggy) Carter, Arcadia, John (Kris) Carter, Lithia Springs, FL., and Bobbie Carter, Plant City, Fl., a sister; Linda (Lonnie) Davis, Arcadia, FL and his mother Helen Hall Carter, Arcadia, FL . Herbert leaves nine grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Herbert is preceded in death by his father John Carter, and brothers Terry Carter and Freddie Carter. Visitation will be held Monday evening, December 13, 2010 from 6:00PM until 8:00PM at the chapel of Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Home, 50 No. Hillsborough Avenue, Arcadia, FL Funeral services will be at 2:00PM, Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at the Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Home chapel with Reverend Lily P. Powell officiating. Burial will follow in Joshua Creek Cemetery, Arcadia, FL.
