Desoto- Virginia T. Leonhard Rowland, 88, of Arcadia, FL and formerly of Nankin, Ohio, passed away April 23, 2013. Virginia was born July 9, 1924 in Ft. Atkinson, Wisconsin to the late; Edward and Margaret Whitman Leonhard. She spent her entire working career as a Nurse for Samaritan Hospital in Ashland, Ohio and retired as a nurse for Dr. Starkey in Ashland, as well. Virginia enjoyed knitting, cooking and the outdoors. You could find her sitting on the porch at 5:00 (her favorite time of day) with her daughter's Jack Russell, "Baby" sitting in her lap. Virginia never forgot a date and sent cards to everyone on all occasions. Virginia is survived by her daughters; Sheila (Larry) Pummell, of Arcadia, FL, Alicia (William) Dignin, of Mansfield, Ohio, son, Craig (Karen) Rowland, of Millersburg, Ohio, 16 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Myron Leonhard and her beloved husband of 49 years, Jim Rowland. Private graveside services will be for the family at Nankin Cemetery on May 5, 2013. Arrangements have been entrusted to Ponger Kays Grady Funeral Home, Arcadia, Florida.
