Virgil Lee Harris, age 90, passed away Monday, June 6, 2011 in Punta Gorda, FL. He was born March 28, 1921 in Wilmington, OH and moved to Arcadia 38 years ago from New Vienna, OH. Virgil was of the Methodist faith. Virgil was a wonderful father, grandfather and brother. He farmed most of his life and worked hard for his family. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, wood working, gardening and spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his loving wife Frances M. Harris of Arcadia, one daughter Dorothy M. (Robert, Sr.) Lawrence of Arcadia, FL., one son Danny G. (Barbara) Blair of Cincinnati, OH, daughter-in-law Tanya Harris of Labelle, FL, one sister Josephine Drake of New Vienna, OH, seventeen grandchildren, twenty four great grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Virgil was preceded in death by his son Charles R. Harris and daughter Virginia Doyle, parents Leo and Lydia A. Powell Harris, brother Donald Harris and sisters Goldie Storer and Cleo Linkhart. Grandson Stephen Doyle. A visitation will be Monday, June 13, 2011 from 10:00Am until 11:00AM at the chapel of Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Homes, 50 N. Hillsborough Ave., Arcadia. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 11:00AM with Elder Charles Robbins officiating. Burial will be at Joshua Creek Cemetery.
