Obituary

Judge Vincent T. Hall, 92, passed away peacefully at his home in Arcadia on October 18, 2024, surrounded by the love of his family and caregivers.

Judge Hall was born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on August 2, 1932. He received his B.A, degree from Duke University in 1954 and began law school there prior to serving in the United States Air Force from 1955 - 1957 as a First Lieutenant. He received his LL.B degree from the University of Miami in 1958 and began the practice of law with his father and brothers in Miami. He moved to Arcadia in 1964 and started the law firm of Hall and Brown with Fletcher Brown. He was a founding member of the Desoto County Hospital Board, serving as a board chair from 1967 - 1968..

In 1968, he was elected Desoto County Judge, serving from 1969 - 1975. He was appointed Circuit Judge for the Twelfth Judicial Circuit in 1975, serving in that capacity until March 8, 1985, when he was appointed to the Second District Court of Appeals by Governor Graham.

Judge Hall retired to his beloved ranch in 1994 with his wife Shirley Hall  (Ziel), where he enjoyed the daily operations, hunting, and fishing. He also enjoyed spending time with his cherished dogs, family, and friends, and traveling with Shirley to his home in the mountains of North Carolina.

He is preceded in death by the love of his life Shirley, his parents M. Lewis Hall, Sr., and Mary Frances Hall (Dawson) and his brothers M. Lewis Hall, Jr., Frank D. Hall, and W. Lewshane Hall.

He is survived by his children Richard H. (Valerie) Hall,  Steven V. (Becky) Hall, Diane E. Hall and Katie Hall Willis, Julie A. Duty Hall,  grandchildren Caitlin A. Hall (Chad) Marley, John T. (Rosa) Willis, T. Colton Duty, C. Alexander Duty, Vastin M. (Sarah) Hall and Logan A. Willis; great-grandchildren Liam, Allie, Lily and Cooper; long-time Caregivers Bonnie, Riley, Myrtis, Mary Jane and Sandra; sisters-in-law Muriel Hall and Rebecca Hall, and his loving dog Ruby.

Memorial Services will be held at the Ponger Kays Grady Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00 am on Friday, November 15, 2024.
