Vera L. Phillips, age 66, of Arcadia, FL passed away October 23, 2010 in Arcadia, FL. Vera was born January 10, 1944 in Fitzgerald, Ga to Clarence and Mary Jane Wood Griffin. She had been living in Arcadia for the past 6 years, moving here from Sun City Center, FL. Vera retired from the G. Pearce Wood Memorial Hospital as a Ward Supervisor. Vera enjoyed reading. She also got pleasure from helping her family whenever she could. She was a member of the Arcadia Church of God. Vera is survived by two sons; Robbie (Leslie) Bellflower, and DeWayne Bellflower both of Arcadia, FL. She also leaves three brothers; Pete (Lorene) Griffin, Nocatee, FL, David (Mary) Griffin, Arcadia, FL, and Harris (Vicky) Griffin of New York, and a sister Joann Parsons, of Nocatee, FL; three grandchildren; Michael Bellflower, Robert Bellflower, and Courtney Bellflower, all of Arcadia, FL. She is preceded in death by her husband Richard Phillips in 2004 and two brothers; Willie and Gene Griffin. Visitation will be conducted from 12:00Noon until 2:00PM Wednesday, October 27, 2010 from the Arcadia Church of God. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00pm with Reverend Steve Griffin officiating. Burial will follow in Joshua Creek Cemetery.
