Vera Johnson, age 75, passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home on July 1st, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family and the faith that guided her throughout her life.
Vera was born in 1951 to Jessie David and Mary Pearlene Johnson in Pierce, Florida. Vera resided in Mulberry and graduated from DeSoto County high school in 1969. At the age of 17, she then moved to Arcadia, Florida, where she became a cherished member of the community for the next 58 years.
Vera devotedly attended the Nocatee Church of God for the past 20 years. Her faith in the Lord was the cornerstone of her life. Vera's love for God was evident in the way she lived and the kindness she extended to everyone she met. She never missed an opportunity to share her faith, reminding others of their worth, God's love for them, and the importance of a personal relationship with Him.
While her faith was central to her life, nothing brought Vera greater joy than her family. Being a mother was among her most treasured blessings, and she devoted herself wholeheartedly to raising her children. As her family grew and her children established a lawn care business in Arcadia, Vera remained actively involved, working faithfully alongside them. She proudly served as the business's bookkeeper and steadfast support, helping provide the foundation that allowed the company to thrive.
Vera was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie David Johnson and Mary Pearlene Inglett Johnson, as well as her one sister, three brothers and a granddaughter.
She is lovingly remembered by her five children: Gene Bigsby and his wife, Lynde; Mary Harvard; Naomi Bigsby; Randell Johnson; and Daniel Johnson and his wife, Karla. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, all of whom were a source of immense pride and joy throughout her life.
Vera will be remembered most for her unwavering faith, her selfless devotion to her family, and the love she shared so freely with everyone around her. Her legacy of faith, kindness, and dedication will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
