Obituary

Velma G. Whitaker age 84 passed away on Monday, February 21, 2022, in Bowling Green, Florida. She was born in Carrollton, Georgia, on December 25, 1937, to Robert and Velma Bentley. She worked as a caregiver prior to her retirement and was a member of the Full Gospel fellowship of Fort Meade.

She loved to spend time with her family and her dog, Mikey. She also enjoyed Crocheting, watching game shows on TV, playing on her phone, listing to gospel music, and attending church when she could. Velma was a loving mother, nanny, grandma, and caring person to family and friends. She was also a joy to be around and a very Christian lady.

She is survived by her daughter Sandra Cain and her son Joey Cain and Sherri Savary, grandchildren Bridget and Robert Ward, Robin Gough, Kat Cain, Hayden Cain, Ten great-grandchildren, nineteen great-great-grandchildren, and one nephew Alan (Susan) Harris.

She was predeceased by her parents, her first husband Jack Cain, second husband Bobby Whitaker, son Michael Cain, granddaughter, Amanda Garza, and great-granddaughter Cynthia "Glidder" Gough, and her sister Margie Laney.

A Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2022, from 12:00 to 1:00 PM and the service will begin at 1:00 PM at the Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Home in Wauchula, Florida. Interment will follow at New Hope Cemetery in Wauchula.
