Uchol "Shorty" Patterson was born on February 09, 1950, in the community of Little London in Westmoreland Parish, Jamaica to his parents Kenneth and Merris Patterson.

Uchol attended Little London Elementary School and transitioned to Frome Secondary School. He gained numerous trades in construction at Peterfield Technical School in his homeland of Jamaica.

Uchol moved to Florida in 1981and later met his wife Patricia Truss in Arcadia, Florida in 1987. They were later married on May 30, 1998, and had three children, Shaonda Truss-Gordon (James Gordon), Marris Patterson (Brandon Janvrin) and Omar Patterson.

Uchol lived in the Arcadia community until his eternal rest on October 13, 2022, at the age of 72. Uchol was loved tremendously by his family, friends, and community. To know him was to love him.

Uchol leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Patricia Patterson, three children, Shaonda, Marris and Omar, his sister Fay Patterson and brother Malachi Patterson. Also, his grandchildren Nevaeh and Princeton Janvrin, nephews and nieces Victor Kerr (Michele Stephens), Michael James, Thomas Hairston (Jessica Hairston) Shelonda Davis, Marcus Davis, and Ashely Truss along with a host of great-nephews and nieces and family members.

He was preceded in death by his mother Merris and father Kenneth, three brothers Cedric Patterson, Bertel Pringle and Wilton Pringle and one sister Valda Patterson.

The visitation will be on Friday, October 21, 2022, from 5:00PM – 7:00PM in the Chapel of Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Homes Arcadia, 50 N. Hillsborough Avenue, Arcadia, Florida. The Funeral will be on Saturday, October 22, 2022, at 11:00AM in the chapel at Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Home Arcadia with Pastor Michael James officiating.  The Burial will follow at Oakridge Cemetery.
