Thomas Ronald Chaney, age 86, of Zolfo Springs, Florida passed away Monday, October 25, 2021, in Zolfo Springs, FL. He was born June 15, 1935, in Zolfo Springs, Florida to the late Paul & Mytrice Chaney. Ron, as his family and friends called him, was a lifelong resident of the community. He was of the Baptist faith, a true child of God, and attended Charlie Creek Baptist and Immanuel Baptist Church.

Ron was a graduate of Hardee High school, Class of 1953. After high school, he had a long career as a dragline operator and mechanic. He will be remembered as a hardworking, kind, humorous, and sometimes mischievous man.  Ronald enjoyed traveling in his motor home, going to "Blue Grass" festivals, and watching his orange groves mature to harvest. He also loved to fly his home-built ultra-light plane.

Above all, Ron felt that his greatest accomplishment was his family. He loved spending time with them and would put them first above anything or anyone.

Ronald is survived by his wife of thirty-one year's Bonnie Curry Chaney, his grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his two sons, Terry Ronald Chaney, Tim Alan Chaney, Sisters Shirley, and Elaine and parents.

A visitation will be held Saturday, November 6, 2021, from 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm at the chapel of Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Homes, 205 N. 9th Ave., Wauchula.

Funeral services will follow the visitation at 1:00pm at the chapel of Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Home, Wauchula. Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery, Zolfo Springs.
