Selden J. "Spence" Spencer passed away on Monday, September 25, 2023. He was born on January 16, 1947 in Parkersburg, West Virginia to Samuel Wilbur Spencer and Vivienne Collett Spencer.

He had lived in the community for 20 years and was a teacher at Hardee Senior High School. Selden graduated from West Virginia University in 1969 where he studied Library Science. He touched the lives of countless students with his compassionate and understanding teaching style. He was Past President and Vice President to the Hardee Education Association United.

Selden enjoyed reading, music and collecting and wearing Crocs. He loved cars and attending broadway shows. His family will remember him as an eclectic collector, with a heart and passion for helping others, and was, as his students said, "a unique" person. He is survived by his significant other, Linda Cooper and his children David (Anastasia) Spencer of Sedona, Arizona, Collette (Brian) Schafer
of Stuart, Florida and Joseph Spencer of Port Saint Lucie, Florida. He has one brother Wilbur (Kaye) Spencer, as well as 2 grandchildren.
Also, his nieces and nephews, Sherri Spencer (Kevin) Ketchum and Terri Spencer (Randy) Davis.

He is preceded in death by his parents and sister Eugenie Spencer.

In lieu of flowers please donate to the Hardee Education Foundation with Mr. Selden Spencer's name in the memo line. A scholarship will be given to a graduating senior from HHS.
