Ruth Darlene Davis, age 62, of Arcadia, FL. passed away at her residence May 24, 2010. Ruth was born August 28, 1947 in Monticello, FL. She moved to Arcadia with her family as an infant. Ruth was co-owner of L. I. Davis Excavating Company, Arcadia, FL. She and her late husband Lawrence I. Davis, Sr. operated the company for nearly forty years. Ruth was also a homemaker and was a great example of motherhood to her family. She loved each of her children and grandchildren as though they were her favorite. Ruth enjoyed going to the ball games of her grandchildren and encouraging them to do their very best. She also enjoyed shopping. Ruth was a member of the Seven Day Adventist Church. Survivors are; her three sons, Lawrence I. (Michelle) Davis Jr., Lawton I. (Kim) Davis, and Gary E. (Patience) Davis all of Arcadia, FL. Ruth leaves two brothers, Tommy Hunter, Arcadia, FL., Nathan Hunter, Naples, Fl. and a sister Janice (Butch) Kent, Marco Island, FL. and nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Visitation will be conducted from 6:00PM until 8:00PM Thursday, May 27, 2010 from Ponger-Kays-Grady Chapel, 50 No. Hillsborough Ave., Arcadia, FL. Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM Friday, May 28, 2010 at Ponger-Kays-Grady Chapel with Reverend Jerry Atkins officiating. Burial will follow in Joshua Creek Cemetery.
