Russell Alec Willis, born February 19, 1946, born in Arcadia, FL passed away peacefully on September 9, 2026, in Lake Placid, FL surrounded by the love of his family.
Russell lived a long and meaningful life. He was a man of another generation, strong, hardworking, determined, and devoted to his family. He worked hard throughout his life and faced many challenges with the strength and perseverance that defined him.
Russell shared 62 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Edith Willis. They were not only husband and wife, but best friends who stood beside each other through every season of life. Their love, devotion, and commitment to one another were an inspiration to their family and a beautiful example of a lifetime spent together.
Russell was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather. His family was his greatest legacy, and the lessons he taught, the memories he created, and the love he gave will continue through the generations.
He was preceded in death by his son, Carey Dale Willis; his parents, Bernard Willis and Essie Mae Willis; his brothers, Roy Willis, Bobby Willis, and Jerry Willis; and his sisters, Bertha Loughren and Shirley Murphy.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Edith Willis; his children, Christina Lynn Willis Markham (Andrew) and Justin Lee Willis (Mike); his daughter-in-law, Loisey Willis; his brother, Fred Willis (Geneva); his sisters, Barbara Williams (Jay) and Beatrice Willis Kellner; his sisters-in-law, Colleen Willis, wife of the late Bobby Willis, and Retha Willis, wife of the late Jerry Willis; and his brother-in-law, Bob Loughren, husband of the late Bertha Loughren.
He is also survived by his grandchildren, Tiffany Wiggins; Heather Salas (David); Jacob Willis (Rachel); Russell Willis (Caitlin); JC Willis; and Logan and Chase Walker.
Russell also leaves behind 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Russell’s passing leaves an immeasurable emptiness in the hearts of those who loved him. While he will be deeply missed, his family finds comfort in knowing that his life was long, his love was deeply felt, and his legacy will live on through the family he built.
Rest peacefully, Grandpa. We will take care of Grandma.
