Robert C. Woppman, born on January 7, 1948, passed away peacefully at home on July 21, 2026, surrounded by his loving niece and family.

Robert's life was marked by deep bonds of family, service, and dedication. He was a devoted son, brother, and uncle, whose warmth touched all who had the privilege to know him. Robert’s early path was destined with a sense of purpose and discipline as he joined the Air Force right after high school. Here he acquired invaluable skills as an aviation mechanic. His career as an aviation mechanic for the Air Force stood as a testament to his technical passion and desire to serve his country. He not only served in the Air Force, but he also had a stretch in the Coast Guard as well. The dedication to his country goes unmatched.

After his years of service, Robert continued to devote himself to others by becoming a school bus driver. He dedicated many years to transporting special needs children, a role he cherished deeply. The children he served meant the world to him, and his compassion undoubtedly left a lasting imprint on their lives, as theirs did his.

A true enthusiast of mechanics, Robert’s passion extended beyond his career. He delighted in working on cars, especially on his two treasured Corvettes. It was a normal occurrence for Robert to spend weekends under the hood or enjoying the thrill of racing cars and watching them in action. He found joy and fulfillment in all of his mechanical pursuits. Fishing was another of his enduring adventures, providing tranquility and connection to nature. He also enjoyed spending time outdoors, particularly attending outdoor concerts up north where he loved to bring his family to share in the joy of music.

Robert’s love and devotion to his family remained constant. He cared for his beloved mother until her passing. He then moved down to Arcadia to be closer to his niece, Samantha, and her family. Christmas was Roberts favorite holiday, and his niece Samantha will always hold close to her heart the memory of him bringing her to go look at all the Christmas lights. She recalls with fondness the countless hours spent with her uncle driving around viewing Christmas lights together, even though they always "did it better up north".

Robert was preceded in death by his brother, Gerald Woppman; his father, Christian Woppman; and his mother, Elizabeth Woppman.

He is survived by His sister, Wilene Peden and her husband; his devoted niece, Samantha Kent and her husband Alton; his great-niece Kristen Kent; and his great-nephew Kaleb Kent, who was both a companion and best friend. He will also be dearly missed by his cat, Skid, whom he loved and cherished as part of his family.

Robert’s legacy will live on through the memories he created and the lives he enriched, serving as an enduring source of inspiration to his loved ones, country and community.

Robert will be laid to rest next to his mother at Jefferson Memorial Cemetery in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania.
