Robert Rue McKinney Sr., passed away peacefully on June 11, 2026, surrounded by his cherished family. Born on March 3, 1946, in Wauchula, Florida, Robert lived a life marked by dedication, love, and enduring faith as a devoted husband, loving father, and faithful servant of the Lord
A true son of Florida, Robert found joy and purpose in the care of his farm, where he tended to his beloved chickens and sheep with unwavering commitment. His passion extended to the orange grove he and his wife once owned. In his younger days, he delighted in fishing and hunting, pursuits that reflected his appreciation for nature and the simple pleasures of life.
Robert’s service to his country was honorable and heartfelt. He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps for four years, embodying values of discipline, courage, and loyalty. This chapter of his life exemplified his steadfast character and dedication to the greater good.
Central to Robert's life was his profound faith. As a devoted Christian, he was a faithful servant to the Lord, living by the principles of compassion, humility, and steadfastness that guided his every action. His faith was not just a personal conviction but a beacon that inspired his family and those around him.
For 47 years, Robert shared a loving marriage with his wife, Kathy McKinney. Their partnership was a foundation of love and mutual respect, nurturing a family that grew around them. Together, they raised two children: Robert R. McKinney Jr., married to Kim, and daughter, Pamela Cheezan. Robert is also survived by his grandchildren Stephanie and Blake Lanier, Matthew McKinney, Taylor McKinney, and Johnny Cheezan, as well as his great-grandchildren Addison, Eisley, and Ellie-Rue, all of whom he deeply loved and treasured.
Robert also leaves behind memories of his late brother, Jimmie Ray McKinney.
As we remember Robert Rue McKinney Sr., we honor a man whose life was defined by service—to his family, his faith, and his country. His gentle spirit and enduring dedication remain in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be profoundly missed but forever remembered with respect and affection. As Robert would say, "stay in the spirit" and please pray for him and his family during this difficult time.
