Robert"Bob" Lee Allen, Sr., age 70, passed away Thursday, May 21, 2009 at his home in Arcadia. He was born in St. Louis, MO. on May 30, 1938 and moved to DeSoto County 53 years ago from Michigan. Bob was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather, and will be missed by his family and friends. He enjoyed going fishing as often as possible, liked listening to jazz music and spending time in his yard gardening. He was survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Ruth"Laverne" (Hickman) Allen of Arcadia, Fl., four daughters, Dianna L. (Rick) Bublitz of Land of Lakes, FL., Brenda L. Bryant, Woodstock, VA., Linda G. (Craig) Dees of Arcadia, Fl. and Dorothy R. Allen of Woodstock, Va. Two sons, Robert L. (Terri) Allen, Jr. of Arcadia, Fl. and Bruce G. (Christine) Allen of Sarasota, Fl., two brothers, David (Drucilla) Allen of Ringold, Ga and Alfred (Michelle) Purvis of Ft. Myers, Fl., two sisters Mary (Ray) Proctor of Arcadia, Fl. and Barbara (Mike) Nallen or Ft. Myers, Fl., ten grand children and four great-grand children, numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Alfred and Dorothy M. (Grim) Purvis. Memorial Services and a Celebration of Bob s Life will be held Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at 2:00PM at the chapel of Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Homes, 50 N. Hillsborough Ave., Arcadia, Fl.
