Robert S. DeHart, 92, of Arcadia, FL passed away suddenly at his home on June 30, 2020. He was born on March 12, 1928 in Branford, FL to Melvin and Ellen (Gibson) DeHart and moved from Mulberry to Arcadia 45 years ago where he and his loving wife, Sharon (Ladd) DeHart raised their family.

Mr. DeHart withdrew from school in the 6 ^th grade in order to work the family farm and support his family. He excelled at many jobs in his life which included working for the Chrysler Corporation at their Michigan manufacturing plant, W.R. Grace Phosphate Company in Lakeland, FL and many years driving and delivering ice throughout Central and South Florida. Farming and working at Arcadia Wal-Mart as a greeter were by far Mr. DeHart's most fitting and favorite jobs. He always had a smile on his face and a good story to tell for anyone who had some time to spare. At age 81, he retired from Wal-Mart but continues to be known and loved by many.

Mr. DeHart was a member of the First Baptist Church of Arcadia. He enjoyed reading his Bible, gardening, raising hogs and cattle, studying natural health and he preferred to use natural medicines and old time remedies for his health care. Mr. DeHart also enjoyed writing lyrics and playing his guitar in a local band when he was young. In his later years, he continued playing his guitar for his family, making up lyrics as he played. He certainly knew how to make people smile. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Mr. DeHart is survived by his 3 children: son, Mark (Keri) DeHart of Punta Gorda, FL, daughters Robin (Andy) DeHart Fabila, of Arcadia, FL and Rhonda (Brian) Christman of Cedar Park, TX. He also leaves 4 grandchildren: Aaron DeHart, Jacob DeHart, Matthew Fabila and Ava Fabila. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon (Ladd) DeHart on August 10, 2009.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Friday, July 10, 2020 at Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Home, 50 N. Hillsborough Ave. Arcadia, FL 34266. The Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with Pastor Jerry Atkins officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
