Richard G. Jankowski, 69, of Port Charlotte, Florida, passed away on July 30, 2026. Originally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Rick lived a life marked by adventure, resilience, independence, and an unmistakable determination to live life on his own terms.

Rick was a true adventurer. He loved his motorcycle, water skiing, golf, being outdoors, and simply being out there experiencing life. He was never someone who was content to sit on the sidelines. He embraced the things he loved and approached life with a spirit of independence and courage.

That spirit was tested many times throughout his life. In the early 1990s, Rick suffered a traumatic injury in which he broke his neck. The road to recovery was difficult, and there were many who did not believe he would ever walk again. But Rick had other ideas. To the surprise of many, he eventually walked out of the rehabilitation center on his own two feet—a remarkable accomplishment that reflected the determination that defined him.

Years later, Rick faced another serious challenge when he suffered a traumatic brain injury in an e-bike accident in Port Charlotte. Once again, he fought his way back and recovered, refusing to allow another devastating injury to dictate how he would live his life.

Rick never married and had no children. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Debbie (Czebotar) Moser and his sister-in-law Sue Jankowski. He is survived by his two loving brothers, David and Dennis Jankowski, as well as his nieces, nephew, and brother-in-law in addition to extended family and many dear friends who will miss him deeply.

Rick lived a full and adventurous life. He faced challenges that might have stopped many people, but he kept moving forward. He didn't let his circumstances control him—he controlled his own life. His courage, independence, love of adventure, and determination will be remembered by those who knew him.

Rick’s memorial service will be held October 8th, 2026, at San Antonio Catholic Church in Port Charlotte.

His Celebration of Life will follow at Charlotte Center in Maple Leaf Estates, Port Charlotte.

Rick may have left this world, but the way he lived his life will not be forgotten.
