Obituary

Richard A. Douglass, Sr. 91 was born on November 3, 1919 and passed away on November 25, 2010 in Arcadia, Florida. He was retired from the United States Air Force and from Southland Oil Company. He was a long time member and deacon of First Presbyterian Church, Savannah, GA and attended the Nocatee United Methodist Church, where he sang in the choir. He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Suzanne W. Douglass, three children, Bobbie Stephens (Frank), Richard A. (Andy) Douglass, Jr., and Sandy Johnson (Jeff), eight step-children, Louise McGranahan (Dan), Larry Ward (Shelby), Tom Ward (Judy), Lorraine Elzen (Harlan), JoAnne McQuaid (Steve), Irma Slawson (Gary), Rita Davidson (Hal), and Karl Ward (Dianne). He was blessed with five grandchildren, Marcus Gregory (Kim), Jenny Barber (Dan), Melissa Saez (Danny), Doug Stephens (Tonya), and RJ Gregory (Krystal) and seven great-grandchildren, Parker Gullo, Daniel and Charlie Saez, Claudia and Michael Gregory and Alex and Savannah Gregory. He was also proud of his numerous step-grandchildren and several step-great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Dwight L. Douglass, Sr. and Lucille A. Douglass; his wife of 39 years, Mary L. Douglass, and his brother, Dwight L. Douglass, Jr. He was a wonderful husband and father and loved by all who knew him. Remembrances in lieu of flowers can be sent to Kicklighter Resource Center, 7219 Seawright Drive, Savannah, GA, 31406 to help special needs children and adults.
