Rexford Lee “Rex” Maine Jr., 62, of Arcadia, Florida, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones.

Rex was born February 29, 1964, in Hudson, New York, to Rexford Lee Maine Sr. and Linda Bard. An only child, he was raised in Red Hook, New York, before moving to Florida at about 18 years old.

After first, settling in the Fort Pierce area, Rex made Arcadia his home in the late 1980s, where he would spend most of his life.

Rex truly never knew a stranger. He could strike up a conversation with just about anyone, and before long, he usually had them laughing. His humor was unmistakably his own—colorful, rarely filtered, and always memorable. Over the years, that personality earned him countless friendships throughout the Arcadia community.

A talented mechanic and craftsman, Rex worked throughout his life as an auto-body technician, automotive painter, and mechanic. He spent time at the Ford dealership in Arcadia, where his skills earned professional recognition, and most recently worked as an equipment mechanic for Tremron.

Rex loved his Harley-Davidson motorcycles. Riding was a source of many friendships, memories, and more than a few good stories. Those who rode with him might agree that Rex did just fine on the straightaways—it was the curves that occasionally gave him trouble. He was also an avid firearms enthusiast and talented marksman who brought home numerous trophies from shooting competitions.

During his marriage to Vicky McCumber, Rex helped raise Shanna Moore, Beau Moore, and Matthew Moore. He is survived by his son, Christopher Maine Sr; his grandson, Christopher Lee Maine Jr. of Hudson, Florida, and a community of friends who became an extended family of their own.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rexford Lee Maine Sr. and Linda Bard.

Rex leaves behind a lifetime of stories, laughter, and memories. Some of those stories are probably better left untold, but those who knew him will continue telling the good ones for years to come.
