Rev. Raymond L. Hines of Nocatee, Florida passed away peacefully at home on Friday, October 28, 2022. Rev. Hines was born on October 31, 1931, in Wigham, Georgia. His family moved to Florida when he was 10 years old.
He attended school in Hardee County and married Pauline Williams on March 3, 1951. From 1952 through 1956, he served as a Radio Operator in the United States Navy during the Korean War. After returning from the war, he completed Barber College in Jacksonville, Florida before purchasing the Princess Hotel Barber Shop in Punta Gorda, Florida and later barbering in Arcadia, Florida.
In 1967, God called him to full time ministry, and he attended and graduated from the Nazarene Bible College in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Throughout his ministry, Rev. Hines pastored churches in Missouri, Arkansas, Florida and Indiana. Rev. Hines loved his Lord and his family and friends.
Rev. Hines is predeceased by his wife, Pauline; his daughter, Debora Lynn; his parents, W.F. and Laura Hines; his brothers, Harry T. Hines, Robert E. Hines, Willie C. Hines and L.F. Hines.
He is survived by his sons, Rev. Raymond J. (Kathy) Hines and Michael L. (Julia) Hines; daughter, Penny M. Delaney; grandchildren, Jennifer L. McGlawn, Michael R. Hines, Thad A. Hines, Troy O. Hines, Makayla L. Hines, Dalton R. Delaney and Miranda G. Hines; great-grandchildren, Madison F. McGlawn and Makenzie M. McGlawn, Thadeus A. Hines and Delilah G. Hines; sisters, Dorothy N. Prine, Carolyn K. (Earl) Williams and Betty F. (Clayton) Evers and numerous nephews and nieces.
Visitation will be Saturday, November 5, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at the Arcadia Church of the Nazarene, 132 W. Gibson Street, with the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. and interment to follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
