Obituary

Phyllis Carolyn Green age 96 went peacefully home to be with her Lord and Savior on February 13, 2024.  She was born on December 3, 1927, in Bergen, NY to J. Ward Dalton and Effie (Ryan) Dalton.

Phyllis graduated from DeSoto High School in 1946.  She was a devoted, God-fearing wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.   She instilled the love of the Lord into her children, who passed that love along to their children.  She was a prayer warrior and loved reading her Bible, reading it through many, many times over her lifetime.  She is a member of the Arcadia Church of God.  In her earlier years, she was a devoted Sunday School teacher to the teenage class at the Samoset Church of God.  Those years where precious to her and she cherished being able to bring encouragement to the youth of the congregation.

She was fun loving and never passed up a chance to tease and be the life of any family gathering. She loved to take trips with her grandchildren, Robert and Rebecca, who took their grandmother on many adventurous journeys.  They will have those precious memories forever.  She was so proud of them, and they were her heart.  She was a wonderful cook and passed that love along to them as well.

She drove the school bus for 20+ years for the Sarasota County School District.  She loved telling the stories of her many passengers over the years and cherished being able to look after them while getting them safely to school and home again.

She also loved all God's creatures including her many fur babies over the years including the most recent, Dixie, Babee and Lil Lady.

She will be missed by all who knew her and remembered for her sparkling, mischievous blue eyes.  Our hearts are broken but know she is already in heaven making sure her mansion is big enough for all her family including all her fur babies when the time comes for them to join her.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, A.E.Green, her parents, her siblings, Toby Dalton, Melissa Browning, Gilbert Dalton, Wayne Dalton, and Glenda Trombi,

She is survived by her daughters, Shirley Howell and Carolyn Green of Arcadia, her sister, Etta (Tony) Rodriguez of Michigan, her grandchildren, Robert Howell and Rebecca (Robbie) Keller of Arcadia, her great- grandchildren, Riley Keller of Arcadia, Wyatt (Kaylie) Keller of Ona and great-great granddaughter, Macie Keller of Ona.  She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and devoted friends, who will also miss her dearly.

In lieu of flowers donations should be made to the Arcadia Church of God at 1423 NE Oak St Arcadia, FL 34266.

As per her wishes, a private family grave side service was held on Friday, February 16 at the Joshua Creek Cemetery.
