Ouida W.
Carter
April 3, 1934 – April 24, 2024
Ouida Williams Carter walked into the arms of her Savior on April 24, 2024. She is survived by her devoted husband Robert Carter, daughters Christina (Shelly) Dakin and Laurie Dupuy, son Kevin Mizell and predeceased by her sons Michael Mizell and William (Frankie) Mizell. She is also survived by her stepdaughters, Dr. Carol Moreno and Kathy Birth, daughter-n-laws, Karen Mizell (Frankie), Vicki Mizell (Michael) and foster daughter Rieda Nanney. Ouida was so proud of her seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, step grandchildren and step great granddaughter and many others that knew her as Grandma Ouida, Nanney, Aunt Ouida and dear friend.
Born in Frostproof, Florida, Ouida moved to Myakka City as a young girl. She often talked about growing up around the orange groves with her nine siblings. A graduate of Sarasota High School, she loved substitute teaching for many years teaching many kids who grew up in Myakka City. She moved to North Carolina in 1976 and retired as a food caterer. While in North Carolina, she was very active in the Pleasant Gap Baptist Church singing in the choir. She moved back to Florida in 2006 and was equally active in the Myakka City Methodist Church singing in the choir and was the acting Chairwoman of the church scholarship fund. One thing anyone could know after meeting her was that she loved kids. She especially loved the Lord and wanted everyone else to love the Lord too.
Ouida will be profoundly missed, but her spirit will continue to guide and inspire all who were blessed to know her.
