Mildred M. Eakin, age 90, passed away Thursday, November 24, 2011 in Arcadia, FL. She was born January 5, 1921 in Hannibal, WI and moved to Arcadia 30 years ago from Illinois. She was of the Baptist faith and a member of Brownville Baptist Church. Mildred loved her church and helping people. She was a volunteer at the Senior Friendship Center in Arcadia and a member of WMU (Women s Mission Union). Mildred also had a love for animals especially her cat. She is survived by two cousins; Gwendolyn Johnson and Felton Garner both of Arcadia, Fl; one niece Beverly Miller of Atlanta, GA; two nephews Donald Brumfield and John Jack McGrail both of Michigan; and her family at Precious Angel s Home Care, Lori Coker, Sherry, Jackie, Stacy, Diane, Charlotte, Carol and Carla. She is preceded in death by her husband Ernest Eakin, parents Glen D. and Mamie N. Morton Smith, two brothers and two sisters. A viewing will be held Tuesday, November 29, 2011 from 6:00PM until 8:00PM at the chapel of Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Homes, 50 N. Hillsborough Ave., Arcadia. Funeral Services will be Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at 10:00AM at Brownville Baptist Church, 7015 NE Cubitis (US 17), Arcadia with Pastor Matthew Roberts officiating. Burial will follow at Owens Cemetery in Arcadia. In lieu of flowers the family request donations in Mildred s name are made to Brownville Baptist Church.
