Mary Ethelyne Davis Ash 88, of Arcadia, Fl. passed away Saturday, September 18, 2010. She was born February 10, 1922, at the Murphy Settlement near Limestone, FL, to Sam and Gennie Murphy. Ethel was employed by DeSoto County School District as a bus driver from 1956 to 1985. She transported generations safely to and from school and took great pride in that fact. Ethel lived for her children, grand children, great grandchildren and great-great grandchild; just as they cherished her love also. She loved needlepoint, sewing and cooking. Her favorite past time was fishing; which she enjoyed her entire life, from fishing with her mother and father right down to fishing with her great grandchildren. Ethel is survived by one daughter, Eunice (David) Mizell, of Arcadia, seven grandchildren, Lorri Mizell Christ, of Port Charlotte, Mark (Cynthia) Mizell of Arcadia, Clay (Karen) Davis, of Vero Beach, James (Missy) Ritenburg of Arcadia, Jeff Davis of N. Ft. Myers, Jennifer Davis of N. Ft. Myers, and Jason (Laurie) Davis of Sebring. Fifteen great grandchildren, Erin Christ and Adam Christ, both of Gainesville, Megan Davis and Austin Davis, both of Vero Beach, Ashley Coulton, of Marion, KY, Jack Morgan Mizell and Riley Mizell, both of Arcadia, Brittany Ritenburg and Casey Ritenburg, both of Arcadia, Richard Badger, Samantha Badger, Mariah Badger and James Lanier, all of N. Ft. Myers, Pearl Woodruff and Laynie Davis, of Sebring and great-great grandchild, Lane Davis of Vero Beach. She was preceded in death by her husband Jack Davis, son Gene Davis and a grandson Dan Davis. A visitation will be held, Tuesday, September 21, 2010 from 6:00PM until 8:00PM at the chapel of Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Home, 50 N. Hillsborough Ave., Arcadia. Graveside services will be Wednesday, September 22, 2010 at 10:00AM at Oak Grove Cemetery, Hardee Co.
