Obituary

Martha J. Wyatt "You can shed tears that she is gone or you can smile because she has lived." Martha Jillana Wyatt, 45, passed away Wednesday, July 16, 2008, following a courageous battle against breast cancer. She was born Dec. 27, 1962, in Athens, Tenn., to Clifford R. Payne and Martha J. "Jane" Payne. Martha attended school in DeSoto County, Fla., and then married Wayne R. Wyatt in 1981. After raising her family in Immokalee, Fla., she then returned to Arcadia, Fla., in the mid-1990s. Martha enjoyed being a homemaker, cooking, canning and gardening. She also loved to spend days at the beach and time with her family and friends. Martha was always quick to pick up a microphone and sing karaoke. And she never failed to wear the best costume at Halloween, her favorite holiday. Martha's passing leaves a large void in the hearts of those whose lives she touched. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her son, Daniel (Cassy) Wyatt of U.S. Army, Korea; daughter, Lindsey Wyatt of Avon Park, Fla.; father, Clifford (Barbara) Payne of Clarkesville, Ga.; brother, Joe (Sherry) Bazemore of Broadway, N.C.; sisters, Bonnie (Steve) Dees of Merritt Island, Fla., Cindy Pratt of Fort Myers, Fla., and Sarah (Frank) Giddens, Katie Johnson and Carolyn Payne (Mike Daniels), all of Arcadia; granddaughter, Nyrah Wyatt; six nieces; five nephews; one great-niece; one great-nephew; and countless friends. Martha was preceded in death by her mother, Jane, in August 1999; husband, Wayne, in October 2001; and son, Dustin, in October 2005. Graveside funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 19, 2008, at Joshua Creek Cemetery in Arcadia. The family is accepting floral arrangements or donations in Martha's name to TideWell Hospice and Palliative Care, 919 N. Arcadia Ave., Arcadia, FL 34266. Arrangements are by Ponger-Kays Funeral Home, Arcadia
