Marie Henrietta Arthur, age76, passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2023, in Arcadia, FL.  Marie was born April 4, 1946, to the late Arthur and Henrietta Smit Kleis in Jersey City, New Jersey.  She moved to DeSoto County, Florida in 1970 from Vero Beach, Florida. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Fort Ogden.  Marie was very active in her church, having taught Sunday School for many years and helped to organize and work the annual Vacation Bible School programs.  She enjoyed spending quality time with all of her family.

Survivors are her four children, Floyd (Marie) Arthur III, Ft. Ogden, FL, William "Bill" Arthur, Sanderson, FL, daughters, Rebecca (Chad) Hankinson, Arcadia, "Nocatee" Florida, and Debbie (Josh) Hausman also of Nocatee, Florida.  Marie has a brother Arthur Kleis, Port Charlotte, Florida to mourn her passing. Also, there are her grandchildren, Shelby (Chris) Foster, Jesse Arthur, Corey and Ashley Mascorro, KaLeigh Arthur (Jesus Lleo), Jeramie Arthur, Joshua Thornton (Tabby), Jordan Thornton, Jacob Hays, Leslie Hankinson, Haylie Hankinson, Caleb Hausman (Alyssa), Ashlynn Brownlow (Logan), Brantley Hausman, and Great grandchildren, Maebri Foster, Ada Foster, Landon Mascorro, Athena Mascorro, Jonah Mascorro, Brantley Arthur, Jordynn Lleo and Eliora Thornton.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Floyd Arthur, Jr. and a brother, George Kleis.
