Lydia Varner 92 of Arcadia passed away July 29, 2008. She was born June 02, 1916 in Maumee, Ohio and moved to Arcadia 49 years ago from Detroit, MI. She was of the Baptist faith and attended Alliance Church in Port Charlotte. She was a member of the literary club in Detroit, MI, while living in Michigan Lydia was a foster mother for 200 babies over a 15 year period. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Melvin Varner in 1991. She is survived by two sons Thomas (April) Varner of Port Charlotte, Charles (Sherry) Varner of Traverse, City, MI; two daughters Carolyn (Steve) Rackmill Arcadia, daughter Lois Jean Varner of Seaside, CA; nine grand children and seven great grand children. Visitation will be 10 AM to 1 PM Saturday August 02, 2008 at the Arcadia Church of Nazarene with Services starting at 1 PM with Rev. Ted Stanton officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
