The Garcia family would like to announce the heartbreaking loss of their son, Luis Enrique De Leon Garcia. Luis was born on December 9th, 2005, here in Arcadia, Florida. He passed away peacefully on August 27th at the John Hopkins All Children's Hospital in Saint Petersburg, Florida. Luis grew up, went to school and spent his life here in Arcadia. At a young age Luis developed some health problems but her never let that stop him or get him down.

In March of 2014 Luis was blessed with a life-saving heart transplant. The incredible surgery was performed at All Children's Hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida. Though recovery was difficult, Luis persevered with incredible courage and strength. He was homeschooled for a year before returning back to school and embracing the next 14 years of his life with gratitude and determination. He graduated from DeSoto High School in Arcadia, Florida, continued his college studies, worked hard at every opportunity, and remained deeply committed to his dreams. Even the night before his passing, Luis was still finishing homework from his hospital bed; a reflection of the discipline, courage, and heart that defined his life.

Luis was a beloved son and a great brother to his siblings. He will be remembered for being responsible, respectful, and grounded in strong values and principles. He loved watching boxing and jujitsu, cutting hair, and making the most of every day that he was given. Luis is survived by his mother, Araceli Garcia; his father, Victor De Leon; his four siblings; his girlfriend and their baby-boy who is on the way; and an entire community of friends, teachers, business associates and acquaintances who cared for Luis deeply. 

The Garcia family will be giving Luis a Christian farewell with a private viewing to be held at the family's residence on September 4th, starting at noon (12:00). The viewing and visitation will continue throughout the evening into the morning of September 5th. A catholic service will then take place at St. Paul's Catholic Church at 1330 E. Oak Street Arcadia, FL. 34266 at 11:00 A.M, followed by his burial at Oak Ridge Cemetery, 601 Oak Ridge Avenue, Arcadia, FL.
