Lucy G. (Wells) Godwin, age 76, passed away Thursday, October 16, 2008 in Arcadia, Fl. Lucy was born Punta Gorda, Fl. July 30, 1932 and was a lifetime resident. Lucy was a homemaker and loved to cook for her family and friends. She enjoyed fishing; gardening in her yard, but her favorite pastime was her animals. Lucy had dogs, ducks, and chickens, well a little bit of everything. Lucy was of the Church of God faith. Survivors are four sons, Paul J. (Brenda) Godwin, Danny F. (Helen) Godwin, David T. (Naomi) Godwin all of Punta Gorda, Fl. and Michael C. Godwin of Arcadia, FL. One daughter Cheryl A. Godwin of Arcadia, Fl. One brother Jeff Wells of Punta Gorda, FL and four sisters Evelyn Worley, of Murphy, NC, Thelma Newcomer of Punta Gorda, Fl., Gloria Couch of Ft. Myers, Fl. and Grace Johnson of Arcadia, Fl. 12 Grandchildren and many Great-Grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Timothy Topie Godwin and two brothers Charles and Frank Powell. Visitation will be from 6:00PM til 8:00PM Monday evening, October 20, 2008 at the Punta Gorda Chapel of Kays-Ponger-Uselton Funeral Home, 635 E. Marion Ave., Punta Gorda, Fl. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 21, 2008 at 10:00Am at the Punta Gorda Chapel of Kays-Ponger-Uselton Funeral Home with Rev. John Spratlin of the Church of God, Nocatee officiating. Burial will follow in Indian Springs Cemetery, Punta Gorda, Fl. Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Home in conjunction with Kays-Ponger-Uselton Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
