Lucille Jewell Allen, age 92, went to be with the Lord Monday, May 9, 2011. She was born October 16, 1918 in Limestone, FL and a lifetime resident of Hardee County. She was of the Church of God faith and attended Florida First Assembly of God. Lucille was a very loving and caring mother, grandmother and sister. She enjoyed being with all of her grandchildren and will be missed by her family very much. Lucille also enjoyed travel, she especially liked taking cruises. She is survived by two sons; Claude E. (Ruby) Powell of Wauchula, FL and Broward Sammy Allen of Spring Hill, FL, three daughters; Sarah B. (Presley) Calvert of Melbourne, FL, Barbara J. Rogers of Wauchula, FL and JoAnn Hobb of Texas; and three step children. Two brothers William Sonny (Minnie) Coker of Wauchula, FL and Charles (Paula) Coker of Lithia Springs, GA; three sisters LaRetha Lowe of Palmetto, FL, Zilla Edmark of Zephyrhills, FL and Alice (Carl) Eckelberry of Winter Haven, FL. Thirty eight grandchildren, sixty three great grandchildren and twelve great-great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. Lucille was preceded in death by her husband, Broward R. Allen, her parents B.C. and Amzie Belle Smith Coker, son Bobby Powell, sister Anna Tinsley, granddaughters Melora Marie Johnson and Sharon Lucille Leonard, great grandsons Shawn Cody Svendsen and Shawn Johnson. A visitation will be held Thursday, May 12, 2011 from 10:00AM until 11:00AM at the chapel of Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Home, 404 W. Palmetto Street, Wauchula. Funeral services will follow the visitation at the chapel, 11:00AM with Rev. Chris Rutledge of Florida First Assembly of God officiating. Burial will be at New Hope Cemetery, Wauchula.
