Loretta D. Smith, age 82, passed away Sunday, April 18, 2010 in Arcadia, FL. She was born August 29, 1927 in La Porte, IN and was a lifetime resident. Loretta was of the Lutheran faith and a member of St John Lutheran Church in La Porte. She enjoyed bowling, summer days at the family lake house, boating and travel with her husband. She is survived by one son; Eugene Gene (Carol) Smith of New Carlisle, IN; one daughter Sheila K, (Don) Knoche of Arcadia, FL.; four grandchildren; Katherine (Scott) Knoche- Olipra, Donnie (Lindsay) Knoche, Melissa (Brian) Zelasko and Genie Smith; three great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Loretta was preceded in death by her husband; Eugene E. Smith, Jr., parents Carl and Adeline Wangrow Shippee and four sisters. A visitation and funeral service will be held in La Porte, IN. Interment will follow at New Carlisle Cemetery, New Carlisle, In. Memorial Services will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Arcadia of which the date and time will be announced.
