Lois Alene Redding Colavito, 96 was born on December 31, 1927, to Robert Wesley and Asena Evers Redding in Immokalee, Florida. She died November 22, 2024, under Vitas Hospice Care in Wauchula, Florida.
She was preceded in death by her parents Robert Wesley and Asena Evers Redding and her husband, Joseph Raymond Colavito, Sr as well as her three brothers Bob (Fanny), Johnny (Ann), and Cecil (Ruth) Redding and three sisters Mary DeWees (Delbert), Donia Samuels Hughes (Talmadge), and Eloise Ashe (Donald.)
She is survived by her two daughters Yolanda Gray (Donald) of Wauchula and Kitty Maddox (Todd) of Zolfo Springs, and one son Joseph Raymond Colavito, Jr of Florida City. Grandchildren include Cherie Johnson (Christopher), Bonnie Newton (Emory), Dustin Maddox (Lydia), Wyatt Maddox, Joseph Raymond Colavito III, and Dwayne Colavito. Great-grandchildren include Caryssa and Cayden Johnson, and Amber and Morgan Newton. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Lois had a heart for others and spent most of her life taking care of people with her nursing career. She was a Pink Lady in the old Wauchula Elementary School and later on worked with doctors in their office practices as well as nursing in hospitals as a LPN helping deliver many babies.
Lois was a Christian and served in many different roles such as a Sunday School Superintendent, song leader, and street evangelist. She loved her Lord Jesus and is safely resting in His arms.
A visitation was held at Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Home on November 26, 2024 with visitation at 1:00 and funeral services at 2:00 in the Chapel . Internment will follow at Wauchula City Cemetery. Pastor Wendell G. Smith from Faith Temple Church of God and Pastor Scott Waldron will be officiating.
