Lexie Dale McCoy, age 88, formerly of Arcadia, FL, passed away February 25, 2011 in Merritt Island, FL. Lexie was born September 26, 1922 in Maxie, VA. She resided in Arcadia from 1987 until 2000, moving to Miami and finally to Merritt Island ten months ago to be near her children. Lexie was a merchant and a homemaker. She and her husband Earl owned and operated two Ben Franklin Retail stores, one in Chesapeake, VA and one in Smithville, VA. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Arcadia devoting her time and resources to the furtherance of God s kingdom. She enjoyed gardening, growing flowers and vegetables, sewing and cooking. Lexie is survived by a son; Clyde (Anne) McCoy, Cocoa Beach, FL, two daughters; Virginia Jenny McCoy and Earlene McCoy both of Merritt Island, FL, two grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Lexie is preceded in death by her beloved husband Earl in 1997, and eleven siblings. Funeral services were held at 2:00pm Sunday, February 27, 2011 at Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Home 50 No. Hillsborough Avenue, Arcadia, FL with Pastor Ron York officiating.
