Lewis Marion Spargo, age 92, passed away December 10, 2011 in Bay Pines, FL. Lewis was born November 24, 1919 in McAdenville, NC. He moved to Arcadia FL five years ago and moved to Palmetto, FL eighteen months ago to be near his family. Lewis retired from General Tire Corp., where he help make giant tires for heavy equipment. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II. He was honorable discharged as a Machinist Mate 1St Class. Lewis was a member of Masons in Stanley NC. He was of the Presbyterian faith, attending Burnt Store Presbyterian Ch. in Punta Gorda, FL. Survivors are his daughter, Claudette (Glen) Schloneger, Parrish, FL, a son, Randy (Joy) Spargo, Uniontown, OH, a brother and sister, Bob Spargo and Edna Lineberger both of Stanley, NC, four grandchildren, Ryan, Troy, Rebecca, and Randy Ray, two great grandchildren, Tory and Madison. Lewis is preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie and Ethel Spargo, sisters, Billie Wyatt and Minerva Spargo Thomas, and a brother, T. L. Spargo. Graveside services with U. S. Navy military honors will be conducted at 2:30PM, Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at Sarasota National Cemetery, Sarasota, FL.
