Lewis D. L.D. Strickland, age 85, passed away Tuesday, January 5, 2010 in Arcadia. He was born March 21, 1924 in Ozark, AL and moved to Arcadia 56 years ago from Ozark, AL. He was a lifetime member of the Church of God, Arcadia. He truly loved the Lord and spent time traveling through out America enjoying Gospel Sings. L.D. had another passion, which was working hard for his family. He worked 25 years as an electrician for the City of Arcadia; he also owned and operated Strickland Electric. He is survived by one son, Robert David (Patsy) Strickland of Arcadia, FL., two daughters Sue (Michael) Peeples of Arcadia, FL. and Donnell (Jerry) Huckaby of Nocatee, FL., one stepson, Frank (Priscilla) Strickland of Nocatee, FL and one stepdaughter, Cindy Skinner of Ft. Ogden, FL., one brother Charles E. (Olga) Strickland of Altamonte Springs, FL, fourteen grandchildren and twenty-four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances E. Strickland, and his parents Terrell E. and Lela B. Strickland. Visitation will be Saturday, January 9, 2010 from 12:00PM until 2:00PM at the Church of God, 1423 NE Oak St., Arcadia. Services will follow at 2:00PM with Pastor Jimmie Collins and Pastor Steve Griffin officiating. Burial will be at Joshua Creek Cemetery.
