LD T. Christian, age 79, passed away Saturday, March 27, 2010 in Port Charlotte. He was born July 25, 1930 in Grand Rapids, MI and moved to Port Charlotte twenty-eight years ago from Oceanside, CA. LD served our Country in the United States Marine Corps, and toured during WWII, Korea and Vietnam, when retiring from service with rank of Gunnery Sergeant. LD enjoyed extensive traveling with his wife Kathryn, making custom silver and turquoise jewelry, fishing, boating and reading books about the Old West . He was of the Baptist Faith. He is survived by his wife Kathryn L. Christian of Port Charlotte, FL one son, Dale T. Harris of Port Charlotte, FL, four daughters, Fab Engleston of Kansas City, MO, Linda (Jack) Lester of Charleston, WV, Sharon Taylor of Fort Lauderdale, FL. and Doris Costello of Poka, WV, one brother Jan (Sandy) Christian of Grand Rapids, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter. A visitation will be held Wednesday, March 31, 2010 from 5:00PM to 7:00PM at the Port Charlotte chapel of Kays-Ponger-Uselton Funeral Home, 2405 Harbor Blvd., Port Charlotte. Funeral services will be Thursday, April 1, 2010 at 10:00AM at the chapel with Pastor Frank Bauer officiating. Interment will follow with Military Honors at Sarasota National Cemetery.
