Larry, age 69 passed away peacefully on November 7, 2024 in Florida. He was born in Brooklyn, New York on January 15, 1955 to the late Carlos Triay Portela and Maria Antonia Santos. He was the younger of two children.

Larry is survived by two children: Olivia (Erik) Wasko and Oliver (Carolyn) Triay. His parents, originally from Cuba, moved to Florida in 1956 and settled in Hialeah, Miami. Larry is survived by his older brother Charles (Carolyn) Triay of Arcadia, FL. He was a widow to his wife of 44 years, Louann Cooke Triay. Larry is survived by his grandchildren: Grayson, Carter, Lincoln, Riley and Kyree. Niece Nicole (Charles) Metzger, nephew Noah (Alana) Triay and niece Anne-Marie Driggers. Larry spent his last year and half of life with his loving companion, Clara Branco.

Captain Larry loved the ocean and spent his entire life doing what he loved, boating, fishing and lobstering. He lived a fulfilling life enjoying music, dancing and volunteering at an animal shelter. The mountains of Western NC were always calling him where he spent time with family and friends. We will miss him very much. He was loved by many friends and family.
