Obituary

Kay Holloman, age 83, went to be with the Lord on April 16, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on December 9, 1938, in Asheville, NC to the late Dr. John M. and Hortense McNair.  The McNair family moved to Charleston, WV in 1940, where sister Martha was born in 1941. In 1954 they moved to Sarasota, FL, when her dad became the minister of First Presbyterian Church.

During Kay's junior year at Sarasota High School, she became a participant and performer in the Sailor Circus, in which she lettered. Kay realized as she got older this was a pivotal part of her life as she "went outside of the box."

Kay spent two years at Queens College in Charlotte, NC and two years at Florida Central College in Tampa, FL, to study court reporting before becoming a court reporter in Sarasota, FL. It was during that time that she found a love of travel, which was instilled by the travels made during her "growing-up" years. Kay made a trip to Europe in 1963 and a trip to the Middle East in 1965.

Kay met David in 1964, when she was in Arcadia court reporting. They were married in Sarasota at First Presbyterian Church on January 22, 1966.

Kay was active in Women of the Church (past president), served as a deacon, elder, leader of the Lunch Bunch, and spent many years serving with the Monday Morning Ladies. She enjoyed working in the Republican office during presidential elections for many years.

She is survived by her husband, David C. Holloman of Arcadia, FL; one son, Matt (Dana) Holloman of Knoxville, TN; one daughter, Lauren (Scott) Segreve of Punta Gorda, FL; one sister, Martha (Lewis) Shell; and five grandchildren: Alex, Ashley, Corey, Trey and Britney.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at 2:00pm at the First Presbyterian Church in Arcadia. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Arcadia, FL.

Thank you to all who have provided food, cards, telephone calls, thoughts and the many prayers since June of 2021. Any donations in Kay's name should be sent to the First Presbyterian Church, Arcadia, Florida.
