Juanito Regudo Corpus, a dedicated physician, beloved husband, father, and respected member of his community, passed away on April 24, 2026, at the age of 84.
Born on April 18, 1942, in San Marcelino, Zambales, Philippines, Dr. Corpus was the son of Juan Regudo and Fredesvinda Corpus. After graduating from medical school from Far Eastern University in 1967, he worked at San Roque Hospital in Olongapo City.
Dr. Corpus moved to the United States in 1970, completing his internship at Norton Memorial Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky, and residency at Mount Vernon Hospital in New York. After working as Medical Director of World War II Veterans Memorial Hospital in Meriden, Connecticut, for 10 years, he relocated his family to Wauchula, Florida, in 1983.
Dr. Corpus served as President of the Medical Staff at Florida Hospital (formerly Hardee Memorial Hospital), where he worked as an emergency room physician. In addition to his hospital service, Dr. Corpus maintained a private internal medicine practice until his retirement in 2015. He was beloved by patients for his personable manner, sense of humor, and dedication to healing.
Dr. Corpus was preceded in death by both parents, as well as his brother, Porfirio Regudo, and sister, Paciencia Regudo. He is survived by his loving wife, Liby P. Corpus; his sons, Warren and Eric (Leah) who turned him into a Florida Gators fan; and his grandchildren, Noah, Micah, and Ezra. He is also survived by his brother, Filonilo Regudo (Diane), and their children Mayee (Romel Almoro) and Jiji (Daniel Matthews), and his sister, Corazon Acosta (Manuel), and their children Marie Antoinette (Carlos) and Mabel Doria (Buboy).
A funeral Mass will be held at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Wauchula on Thursday, May 21. The public Mass and memorial service will begin at 11:00 a.m., with an optional Catholic rosary reading at 10:30 a.m. Expressions of comfort may be made at: www.pongerkaysgrady.com.
