Joyce T. Dozier, age 83, Arcadia, Fl. passed away, May 2, 2008 in Punta Gorda, Fl.. Joyce was born, June 26, 1924 in Arcadia, Fl. to Lillington A. and Lena Witt Tew. She was a lifleong resident of Arcadia. Joyce was a secretary and bookkeeper for Arcadia Electric for many years. Prior to her years with the electric company, she had worked with the Desoto Chemical Company, secretary for the principal at DeSoto High School, and the secretary for the Deacons at Arcadia First Baptist Ch. She graduated from DeSoto High School, class of 1942. Joyce was a member of Arcadia First Baptist Church, where she was involved in many church functions. She, along with her sister-in-law Mattie Tew and sister-in-Christ Bessie Burtcher formed a trio and sang together for many years on Sundays at Arcadia First Baptist and on the local radio station . She also was a Sunday School teacher and aerobics instructor at the church for several years. Survivors are three daughters; JoAnn (Doug) Ward, Milton, Fl., Jean (Jose) Vitali, Arcadia, and Jayne (Ron) Elwell, Cape Coral, Fl., ten grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. She is preceded in death be her husband Albert Jack Dozier, 1975, and two brothers Armond Tew and Tommy Tew. Visitation will be conducted from 6:00PM until 8:00PM Monday, May 5, 2008 from the Ponger-Kays-Grady Chapel. 50 No. Hillsborough Ave., Arcadia, Fl.
