Obituary

Joyce M. Blitch age 80. passed away on Tuesday, September 21, 2010 in Punta Gorda, FL. She was born July 23, 1930 in Hamilton, Ohio. Joyce is of the Methodist faith and a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church of Arcadia... Joyce retired in 1987 after 22 years as an Executive Secretary for Eastern Airlines. Though retired she remained active both at home and in her community where she enjoyed gardening, cooking for those she loved, and working puzzles in her spare time. As a dedicated member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Joyce was a Past Worthy Matron and Member of the Ladies Shrine. Once a month Joyce enjoyed visits to Sarasota where she lovingly sewed pajamas and crocheted lap blankets for the Sahib Shrine Children s Hospital in Tampa, Fl. Joyce is a graduate of Miami Jackson High School in Miami, Fl. where she was not only a Cheerleader but Queen her senior year. Joyce and her Husband of 60 years, James D. Blitch moved to Arcadia 16 years ago from Miami. Joyce is survived by her husband James D. Blitch of Arcadia; daughter Jacquelyn A. Megna (Victor) of Woodstock, GA. and son James L. Blitch of Davie, Fl. Joyce was preceded in death by her mother Alberta Bessie Botner and father James Raymond Montgomery and brother James Montgomery. A visitation will be held from 6:00PM to 8:00PM Friday, September 24, 2010 in the Chapel at Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Home, 50 N Hillsborough Ave, Arcadia for family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM, Saturday, September 25, 2010, in the Trinity United Methodist Church located at 304 W. Oak St. in Arcadia, Fl with Rev. Jim Wade officiating. Burial will be at Sarasota National Cemetery.
