Obituary

Joyce Avonell "Abbie" Nabell of Arcadia, Florida passed away on October 19, 2022. She was born on February 2, 1930 in Branford, Florida. She attended high school in Branford, Florida. She had lived in the Arcadia area since the 1950s and attended Florida State University, and obtained her Master's in Education from the University of South Florida. She was employed by the DeSoto County School system as an educator of Middle School English.

Abbie was a member of Hickory Street Church of Christ and the Arcadia Literary Club.

She enjoyed reading, music, playing Bridge, working on her crossword puzzles, cooking and making a beautiful home for her family and friends. Abbie was a poet and shared detailed tributes to friends in her beautiful penmanship. She will lovingly be remembered as Abbie.

She is survived by her daughter Kim Skipper Edgemon.

She was preceded in death by Myron Skipper and Gene Nabell

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the DeSoto County Education Foundation and Tidewell Hospice of Arcadia.

There will be a graveside service on Tuesday, October 25, 2022, at 11:00AM at Oakridge Cemetery. All her friends are welcome to attend.
