Joseph Joe Nickel, age 53, of Arcadia, passed away, at his home, October 9, 2008. Joe was born in Philadelphia, PA. January 23, 1955 and lived in Arcadia for the past two years, moving here from Port Charlotte, Fl. where he had lived for five years. Joe was a carpenter by trade and had worked in home construction until he became disabled due to an injury . Joe had a special relationship with his grandson Ryan James Van Dyke and referred to each other as Best Buddy He loved music, playing in various bands over the years and was teaching his grandson Ryan James the basics in guitar playing. Joe loved his family and enjoyed spending quality time with them. Joe is preceded in death by his parents, John and Henrietta Nickel, and a son Brian Joseph Nickel. who passed away, April 7, 1996. Survivors are his beloved wife, Joyce, Arcadia, a step son Michael Brandon Van dyke, Arcadia, two grandsons, Best Buddy Ryan James Van Dyke, and Jordan Brooks, both of Punta Gorda, Fl. He also leaves one brother and five sisters. Visitation will be conducted at 6:00PM til 8:00PM Monday evening, Oct. 13, 2008 from Ponger-Kays-Grady Chapel. 50 No. Hillsborough Ave., Arcadia, Fl. Funeral services will be held at 7:00PM on Monday evening, Oct. 13, 2008 from the funeral home chapel.
