Joseph “Denton” Cash, 91, of Wauchula passed away peacefully in his home on May 25, 2026 surrounded by family.

Denton was born May 21, 1935 in Lakeland, Florida to Joseph Clark “Jack” Cash and Ella “Lucille” Ellerbe.

Denton moved to Wauchula in 1948 and graduated from Hardee High School in 1953. He joined the Air Force in 1955 serving for 4 years, where he met the love of his life.

Denton married Sharon June Zink on July 12, 1959 in Nampa, Idaho.

Denton owned and operated Cash’s Service Center, Cash’s Electrical Shop and Denton’s Muffler Shop through the years. Not only was he a small business owner, but a beloved member of Wauchula. He was known by all and always had a story to tell.

Denton was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He loved to fish, hunt dove and duck, garden and work in his shop.

Remaining to cherish Denton’s memory are spouse Sharon; Children Gale Cash (Carolyn) of Melvin, Illinois; Debbie Winslow (Tony) of Winter Park, Florida; Kelly Cash (Stephanie) of Leesburg, Florida; and Dena Grills (Mike) of Wauchula, Florida along with 12 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Preceding Denton in death are his parents Jack Cash and Lucille Ellerbe; and his brother Jerry Cash.

A private family memorial will be held at a later date.
