Jose Lara, age 73, passed away on March 4, 2026, in Port Charlotte, Florida. He was born on July 9, 1952, in El Refugio, San Luis Potosí, Mexico, to Micaela Gonzalez and Felix Lara. Jose worked in landscaping for many years and was known for his dedication and strong work ethic. Outside of work, he enjoyed playing billiards and listening to music. Above all else, Jose loved his family. Spending time with them meant the most to him, and he took great pride in being a father and grandfather. His presence will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by the love of his life, Josefina Sanchez; his daughters, Micaela Hernandez (Jaime Hernandez) and Maria Bullion (Matthew Bullion); and his beloved grandchildren, Lizet Ochoa, Jorge Ochoa Jr., and Adan Ochoa.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 6, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Ponger-Kays-Grady Chapel in Arcadia, Florida. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Arcadia on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., followed by interment at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Arcadia.
